70 years ago, the Delaware River had its worst flood on record.  The river bridges in Trenton fared slightly better than many of the bridges upriver.  At one point during the flooding crisis, the Trenton-Morrisville (Route 1) Toll Bridge was the only Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission span in operation. The Calhoun Street Bridge was already closed for repairs when the flood hit. Interestingly, this was not the highest flood on record for the Lower Trenton.

I was too young and not good enough for that team. But I have a clear recollection of attending the year-end banquet where Nat Holman spoke.

This school started on Market Street, known as Talmud Torah. Then Dr. Herzl Zion Hebrew School occupied the building around the 1940's. I still have this booklet they gave to the students. Do you remember them moving to West State Street?

Rick Byer

I was a student at Dr. Herzl Zion on Stockton Street in the YMHA building for grades 3- 6. It then moved to West State Street and occupied the building that was congregation Jeshurun. I was Bar Mitzvah there in 1960.

Judee Algazi

I attended Kindergarten through 8th grade. I started on Market Street, then the JCC on Stockton Street and then went to 4th-8h grade on West State Street. Murry Gendzel was a few grades ahead of me. I was in the auditorium a few years back & the only changes had to do with the fire escape door latches & heat detection equipment . A must change because of safety laws . Every thing was the same as when I left 1961 .
